After having breakfast checkout from the hotel and start your day trip towards Sonamarg also known as “the Meadows of Gold”, enroute through the picturesque countryside ride where we will come across rolling hills, green forests, clear water streams and blooming rice fields and majestic mountains. It’s a trekker’s heaven, a starting point for many treks, spectacular skies, and snowy mountains, huge lake, strewn with the loveliest Alpine forests you will gasp in wonderment at the golden light that glints from the snow-capped peaks when lazy sun rays fall on them. You can opt for a pony ride to Thajiwas Glacier (on your own cost) to have some fun in Snow. Evening return back to Srinagar, dinner & overnight stay at Hotel.

After breakfast in the morning, we will begin our countryside day trip towards Gulmarg. Gulmarg (2440 Meters above Sea level). It is one of the most beautiful hill stations and also called “Meadows of Flower ''. The drive past colorful villages and rice fields, gives you an insight of the rich cultural past of Kashmir. We arrive at a small picturesque market town of Tangmarg and drive ahead on a scenic drive of 14 kilometers to Gulmarg. Gulmarg has one of the best ski slopes in the world and the highest golf course with 18 holes. On arrival I had the pleasure of seeing the soothing beauty around the meadows. In Gulmarg we will board the Gondola cable car (at your own cost ) system and ascend towards the Affarwat Mountain range. The 08 minutes of rope-way will take you past colorful shepherd huntsmen to the lower ridge of the Afarwat peak. From here you can click lots of photos of the nearby mountain ranges that stand tall like sentinels guarding the rich natural beauty of Kashmir valley. Evening way back to Srinagar for dinner and Overnight stay at Hotel.

After Breakfast, drive to Pahalgam (The valley of Shepherds). The total distance is about 98 kms, will be covered in about 03 hours in between you can have 1/2 hour time to freshen up at Hotel, Srinagar and proceed to Pahalgam, En-route, visiting the saffron fields of Pampore, Awantipora ruins (1100 years old temple of Lord Vishnu built by the King Lalitaditya), and enjoy the beautiful countryside. Drive back to the hotel for your overnight stay.
Situated 16-km from Pahalgam, Chandanwari is famous for snow sledging on a snow bridge. Taxi cabs can be hired from Pahalgam for a roundtrip. The trip takes about four-five hours on a semi-road that has the Lidder river meandering on the one side, and lofty, snow-capped mountains on the other. "Snow fights" is what people generally indulge in here before they sledge back down. Chandanwari is also known for its natural attractions. It has some of the best picnic spots and is reachable by road. The weather can be very unpredictable at the place so do carry some warm clothes and rain coats as well.
Aru Valley is a pristine scenic village situated in the region of Trans-Himalaya. Clear blue canopy over the head, misty surroundings, whispers of the native pines and conifer forests and beautiful meadows create a captivating diorama for travelers thronging the place. Though the village is the smallest hill station in the state, but still its breathtaking beauty and interesting activities like trekking, hiking and horse riding make it one of the most popular tourist places to visit in Pahalgam. Apart from the trekkers, the village also caters to the skiing desires of tourists who love to visit the place during winters. Aru Valley is located at a distance of about 12 km from Pahalgam.
Betaab Valley is a perfect gateway to enjoy the heavenly pleasure of Mother Nature. Earlier known as Hagan Valley or Hagoon, Betaab Valley got its present name after the blockbuster Bollywood movie 'Betaab' was shot there in 1983. The experience is even more heightened by the musical whispers of several birds. Being a precious jewel of Jammu and Kashmir tourism, Betaab Valley is among a handful of Pahalgam tourist places to visit that should not be missed. Situated at a walking distance from the main center of Pahalgam, the valley is also an excellent camping site for trekkers and explorers.

Kashmir Tour Packages F.A.Q

Before considering one of the Kashmir packages, you need to know in detail about the seasons of Kashmir and which more favorable for travel. Otherwise a year-round destination, it would be ideal to travel to Kashmir in the summer to fall months between March and October. You can see its blossoming gardens, hear the bird song, take in sweeping views of the alpine meadows and simply watch Srinagar’s Dal Lake hustle back to life. Visit Pahalgam between April and November for some rafting and horse-riding. For golf, come between April and November. But if snow is your thing and you care for some snowboarding and skiing, head to Gulmarg between December and first half of March.

While you finalize one of the Kashmir tour packages, you need to be aware of how much cash you should be carrying and the number of ATMs at your disposal. The ATM network of Kashmir is quite vast, and you shouldn’t have difficulty spotting an ATM while travelling. However, it makes sense to always carry sufficient – not copious – cash at all times while travelling, because many an ATM could be out of order or have run out of cash. Srinagar has plenty of ATMs and withdrawing cash is not at all an issue, but it is not quite the same with Pahalgam and Gulmarg. There are fewer ATMs in these areas, so best to carry enough cash on you when venturing beyond Srinagar.

Though all the Kashmir travel packages you browse through will provide for your transportation, it is imperative to know how you can commute locally. Though the significant modes of transport in Kashmir are taxis and mini bus, you will also come across ample auto-rickshaws and luxury coaches. You can ride aboard a Jammu & Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation bus or a Jammu & Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation bus that have a fleet of luxury coaches as well for local sightseeing within Kashmir. Else hire a tourist taxi that takes you to the local sights and also for trips outside Srinagar. The most preferred local transport is the mini bus which operates through the city and also in the suburban areas. They travel on a pre-fixed route. For shorter distances, rely on nothing other than the ubiquitous auto-rickshaws.

There are direct flights from New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport to Sheikh ul-Alam International Airport also called the Srinagar Airport. Significant carriers like SpiceJet, AirAsia, GoAir, Vistara, IndiGo, Air India operate on this route, with the journey time of a non-stop New Delhi to Srinagar flight being approximately 1.5 hours. A well-served route, flights are available at a great frequency through the day.

The Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden in Srinagar hosts the tulip festival every year in the spring season – in April – when you can see an array of tulips in wondrous colors bloom to form an extremely photogenic landmark. Backed by the serene Dal Lake, the blossoming daffodils and hyacinths along with the iconic tulips draw in nature and photography lovers from all over the world to this gorgeous tulip garden in Srinagar.

Outside of taking in the splendid natural setting of Gulmarg with its mountains and green valleys, you are recommended a few other activities such as a gondola ride, trekking to Alpather Lake from the Gondola Phase 2 station. Gulmarg is filled with trekking routes but the most popular of them is the trek to Alpather Lake. In the winter months, skiing among other snow-activities like snowboarding are in full swing. However, to sum it up, the activities you cannot miss in Gulmarg other than the gondola ride and Alpather Lake trek include Apharwat Peak, Gulmarg golf course, Maharani temple, St. Mary’s Church, Maharaja Palace, Strawberry Valley, Children’s Park, Khilanmarg, Ningle Nallah and Ferozpur Nallah.

Your Kashmir holiday should include a visit to Srinagar, Pahalgam, Gulmarg, Sonamarg, Anantnag, Sonmarg, Awantipora, Aru Valley, Dachigam National Park, Harwan among others. A typical itinerary for Kashmir would be made up of stay in a houseboat on Dal Lake, a night in Gulmarg, a night in Pahalgam, about three nights in Srinagar and a day trip to Sonamarg.
